Welcome to Shotton Hall School Performing Arts!

Since 2002 we have been designated as a specialist arts college, and over the last 9 years the Performing Arts have had a huge impact on the life of our school. Last year our Steel Band performed at the National Festival of Music in Birmingham and our Theatre School performed on stage at the Shaftsbury Theatre on the West End. Students gained places in the National Youth Choir and the National Youth Theatre. Our choir and concert band went on a fantastic trip to Spain, the drama clubs produced no less than 6 excellent plays, and our dancers continued to perfom in and around the region including at the Gala Theatre, Durham and Dance City. In March we were one of the first schools to perform the new production of HAIRSPRAY to five sell out audiences. During the last week before the summer holidays, over 600 students joined together to take part in a week long series of performances including our annual cultural heritage day and dinner theatre. In January 2011 we are moving to our brand new home in the state-of-the-art school building, which includes a professional theatre.

Take a look around and see photos of our all of our events and trips over the last year, and see videos and listen to short extracts of some of the fantastic performances that have taken place. You will also find dates of all forthcoming concerts and shows, as well as a wealth of information about our huge array of community activities.  If you want to know more, please feel free to leave a note on our message board or contact us via email or phone. we would love to hear from you.

Thanks for visiting!

Our annual Performing Arts Celebration Evening rounded off another fantastic year and the final event in a packed couple of summer weeks , which has included the traditional “Cultural Heritage Day” the Prom in the Park, and an outstanding evening of comedy by Year 10 and Year 11 Drama Club. Tonight current and former students joined together to celebrate the end of an era on the current Shotton Hall Stage. The finale of the evening- a mass performance of the song “Just One Person” was dedicated to Ian Mowbray, Headteacher for the last nine years who retires this term. Students thanked him for his enthusiasm, his passion and support for the performing arts, and for the opportunities he had given them
